Aswini Kumar Town Hall is situated in the middle
of barisal town. It was once the only cultural centre of southern Bengal. From
the beginning it was used as a venue for meetings, plays, fairs etc. As it is

Town Hall. It was named in memory of aswini kumar datta, who had dedicated his
life to the development of Barisal.

In

police. Aswini Kumar Dutta proposed to create remembrance of the
event . He Aswini Kumar datta is the president and saratcandra guha secretary
of the committee was formed to create the hall in 1920. In 15 October of
the same year, purchased the land from lawyers kanta bandyopadhyaya
and the king bahadurer. But according to a foundation set up in the
Hall in the next October. During the creation of 7 November
1923 Aswini Kumar Dutta died. They are held his remember in this
hall. Aswini Kumar Town Hall is the name adopted by the remember. 1930
construction of Hall is fully completed. In 24 February of that year
Trust deed is done. Construction and land is about 40 thousand money is spent.
The construction ended by surplus funds of Non-cooperation movement
and khelaphat Andolan conference. The hall was created directly by
the people who have worked Durga Mohan Sen, Engineer Jotish Chandra lahiri ,
Wahed Raja Chowdhury, Hashem Ali Khan, Badsha Mia, Ismail Khan. Their
contribution is unforgettable.
